Dear Friends and Supporters,
Welcome to the 2008 South Pembrokeshire Hunt Week for thrills, spills and plenty of entertainment!
Having celebrated the 25th anniversary last year, the Hunt Week committee wish to continue in good spirit and with great effort from all of our good friends.
With a view to creating a change in our programme, we decided to postpone the Hunt Ball until January 31, 2009.
It was decided to bring back the 'old' Covert and Wire dance, absent since January 29, 1975. Saturday, November 1, proved a delightful evening with a great atmosphere, with great thanks to Yvonne, Karen and Dawn, who worked hard to organise the special event.
This year's programme commences with the annual Charity Trivia Quiz on Monday, December 1, at the lovely Swallowtree Gardens, at 8 pm. With a prize of £100 for the winner's charity, entrance fee is £10 per team of four.
The Variety Show, now in its 24th year, will be run on Tuesday and Thursday, December 2 and 4, at Kilgetty's RAOB Club. Tickets are available from Doreen Harries on (01646) 651320.
On Wednesday, December 3, we are holding our second 'Thanksgiving Service' at Jeffreyston Parish Church, by kind invitation from Father Paul Davies. This year, we will be joined by members of the Pony Club and the service will include some musical items. The evening's collection will be divided between the church and Macmillan Cancer Support. Refreshments will be served in the Church Hall following the service.
On Friday, December 5, we are introducing a new item to the itinerary. An under 18s party is to be held at the YFC Hall, Cresselly - tickets £15, contact Molly Watts 07884 357189. It's long overdue that the youth of our Hunt should be catered for.
After an absence of 17 years, the Saturday meet returns to Tudor Square, Tenby. The 'Howells' Trophy will be presented to the 'Best Turned Out' junior horse and rider. We are very grateful to Mrs. Lesley Fisher, of Tenby House, who is to provide the 'stirrup cup.'
On Saturday evening, the week's social activities conclude with a Cocktail Party at the YFC Hall, Cresselly, where tickets are available from Judy Lewis (01834) 860850 at £10.
On Tuesday, December 9, the annual charity variety show will be held at the RAOB Club. This year's charity is Macmillan Cancer Support. Donations and or prizes for the raffle and auction would be much appreciated.
Many thanks for your wonderful support in the past and any continuation in the future would be gratefully received. We look forward to another exciting and successful Hunt Week.
Best wishes,
Dennis Reed and the
Hunt Week committee.
