If the autumn sunshine has inspired you to get out and about, it is not too late to sign up for a day's hiking in Snowdonia.

Charity, Marie Curie Cancer Care is organising two Snowdon Mountain Challenges on Saturday and Sunday, October 4 and 5.

The aim is to complete a six-nine hour round trip to the 3,560ft summit of Snowdon via the Llanberis path taking in some breathtaking scenery along the way.

The cost of registering for the challenge is £10 with participants being asked to raise a minimum of £100 in sponsorship. There will be marshals and guides on hand along the route, plus complimentary refreshments at the end, a certificate of achievement and a free t-shirt.

"You obviously need to have a reasonable level of fitness and experience to complete this challenge but it is enormously satisfying and a wonderful way to celebrate the life of a loved one who has suffered from cancer," says West Wales fund-raising manager, Jane Griffiths.

Money raised by the challenge goes towards providing free home nursing for the terminally ill.

If you would like to find out more about the Snowdon challenge or other fund-raising opportunities, you can speak to Jane on 01792-416435. And for those looking for an altogether less energetic challenge, there is also a four-mile sponsored walk along Swansea's Clyne Valley on Sunday, October 5.
