Year 7 and 8 pupils from Castle School, Cresselly, were able to add much useful information to their studies during their fascinating three-day annual school trip last week.

They began with tour of the Roman museum and amphitheatre at Caerleon in Gwent and then travelled on to stay two nights in Devon in order to visit the Eden Project in Cornwall.

There, apart from learning all about this well-known ecological development, they added to their souvenir collection with an assortment of bruises from their ice-skating session.

On their way home, the 30 students and staff members visited the historic Big Pit at Blaenavon, to be taken deep underground for a thought-provoking commentary on the history of Welsh coalmining.

To complete Castle School's busy autumn term, pupils and staff welcomed families to a delightful evening of carols and readings at St. Caradog's Church, Lawrenny.

A short address was given by Father Paul Davies and the evening concluded with mulled wine and mince pies.
