The September meeting was a celebration and remembrance of the life of our Queen Elizabeth II.
Members laid a bouquet of flowers at the foot of the tree in the Regency Hall garden, the tree which was planted by Saundersfoot WI in 2018 to commemorate the end of the First World War.
The flowers were then moved to the nearby wall with other bouquets and members e observed a minute’s silence.
President, Gwen then said that we have much to thank the Queen for during her long reign.
Jean provided from her garden the table flowers in red, white and blue, as well as birthday bouquets for Gwen and Marlene.
She was thanked for the beautiful display she arranged as our WI contribution to the Saundersfoot in Bloom.
A letter of thanks for the WI’s contribution was read out. Raffle prizes were won by Pat, Val and Jean.
Members had brought many royal mementos - coronation mugs and spoons, letters from the Queen, and, of course, a wonderful Paddington Bear.
Members then got down to business, with the June minutes read and signed, and the newsletter was discussed and events noted.
Then, over an excellent lemon drizzle cake Jean had baked, members spoke of the events that were taking place and personal remembrances they had of the Queen.
Saundersfoot is a small, informal and friendly group, and always welcomes new members.
