Saundersfoot Sea Angling Club held a restricted rover last Sunday for the Waterwynch Shield, sponsored by Dai and Andrea Ormond. Marks fished were between Giltar Point and Telpyn Point. Thanks to Andrea for presenting the shield and prize money - Dai could not attend because he hadn't shaved!
Fifteen members entered and two weighed in, a poor return from a promising day; the conditions looked ideal, but perhaps we should have fished further east.
Winner was Dan Thomas with an LSD of 720g (£100, Waterwynch Shield and 10 points); 2. Anthony Knowles with a flounder of 270g (£50 and eight points).
The Golden Peg number pulled out was that of Mel Matthews, who was in Kazakhstan.
The next match is on Sunday, May 18 - a six-hour rover. Leave the Sports Club at 11.15 am, fishing noon - 6 pm, weigh in at The Mulberry, with the scales closing at 7 pm sharp. This match is the last of the first round of the singles knockout sponsored by Powell's Cottage Holidays. I will attempt to get us on Pendine for those who wish to fish up the beach.
Current leaderboard is: 1. Rob Beynon (34 pts), 2. George Barritt (30), 3. Rob Collins (29), 4. Dan Thomas (27), 5. Anthony Knowles (26). The next meeting is at the Sports Club on Wednesday, June 4, at 8 pm. If you have something to offer, please say it at the meeting and not in the pub after the event!
