One of Tenby’s brave Boxing Day swimmers has splashed out with a donation of £190 towards Pembrokeshire charity PATCH (Pembrokeshire Action to Combat Hardship).
Lorraine Jones is PR ambassador for Sainsbury’s in Tenby, which has chosen PATCH as its charity of the year.
She raised the money by joining in Tenby’s annual festive plunge and dressed as a daffodil to follow the Cool Cymru fancy dress theme.
Lorraine has now presented the money to Tracy Olin, of PATCH, which, for over seven years, has been supporting Pembrokeshire people who are in a financial crisis.
Colleagues at Sainsbury’s also handed over a trolley full of groceries which had been donated by shoppers.
Said Lorraine: “Sainsbury’s colleagues and customers have really got behind this worthy charity, with many food items being donated at our food donation point.
“Once again, a great time was had by all at the Boxing Day Swim, enabling many charities to raise much-needed funds for their worthy causes.”
PATCH provides food parcels - consisting of breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and drinks to last five days - as well as clothing and small practical household items. Last year, over 51,315 meals were given to Pembrokeshire people.
Said Tracy: “We do not receive any grants, and we rely on local people, businesses, schools and churches to support us both in goods and finances.
“Sainsbury’s in Tenby and their customers have been so generous that it is hard to express our gratitude. A special thank you to Lorraine Jones for braving the cold waters of the Tenby Boxing Day Swim to raise an incredible amount for PATCH.”
