A SIGNALLING fault near Ferryside has led to rail disruptions between Swansea, Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire, expected to resolve by 4pm.

The Train status / Train delays page on the Transport for Wales website shows ‘Minor delays’ between Swansea / Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire.

However, the JourneyCheck Alerts for tfw show a more serious picture of disruption that is set to be righted this afternoon:

“Following a fault with the signalling system between Swansea and Carmarthen, all lines will be reopened shortly.

“Train services running to and from these stations may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 16:00 04/04,” says the alert.

“Network Rail have advised us of a fault with the signalling system in the Ferryside area. Network Rail staff are on site and believed they have rectified the issue, however are conducting final testing and the line should reopened shortly with delays to be expected to services.

“Transport for Wales services are currently unable to run between Swansea and Carmarthen.

“Replacement road transport has been sourced and will serve stations Swansea to Carmarthen in both directions to enable customers to complete their journeys at no extra cost,” continues the alert, which adds:

“Great Western Railways services between Swansea and Carmarthen will also be affected,” and

“Also First Bus services will allow TfW Rail customers to travel at no additional cost on the following services:

X11 - Swansea - Llanelli - Carmarthen

X13 - Swansea - Ammanford

302 - Haverfordwest - Milford Haven”
