POEMS inspired by the competition theme; ‘Longing – to go on pilgrimage’ are invited for the fourth annual Journeying Poetry Competition.
Journeying is an ecumenical Christian organisation established in 1988 and based in Llangwm in Pembrokeshire. Its purpose is to provide inspiring holidays that enable people to “venture out, leave the everyday and connect with God in creation, in each other and in ourselves” using prayer, reflection and poetry to “provide the rhythm” along the way.
Poems should be original and unpublished and reach Journeying by email attachment, before midnight (GMT) on Saturday, October 26, 2024. Poems may be of any length. Just one entry per person. There is no charge. Copyright remains with the author.
Judges are published poet and music teacher David Arkell and Journeying team member Rev’d Gill Page, whose collection of books is a testimony to her love of poetry and includes works by well-known writers as well as friends who have self-published
The winning poet will receive the Winners Commemorative Certificate, together with a ten percent discount on any one of next year's pilgrim-holidays from Journeying. The winning poem will be announced on December 15, 2024.
