Plenty of Pembrokeshire and Carmarthenshire’s drinking establishments have made it into the Good Beer Guide for 2025 - including two from neighbouring seaside towns Tenby and Saundersfoot.
The Campaign for Real Ale’s (CAMRA) Good Beer Guide – the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide – is celebrating its 52nd edition.
The Guide, which lists 4,500 of the best pubs across the UK, is the definitive beer drinker’s guide for those seeking the best pints in the nations’ pubs – and is on sale now.
Despite the tough trading environment facing a lot of licensees, they continue to battle against the odds, and the 2025 Guide boasts over 900 pubs that are new to this edition.
Information in the Guide is collated by thousands of CAMRA volunteers who give up their time every year to select the best of the best across the UK. As well as covering 322 of the very best pubs across Wales, it includes 69 new pub entries across the country.
In Pembrokeshire, Tenby’s Harbwr Tap & Kitchen situated on St Julian Street makes the list. The pub is the brewery tap for the adjacent Tenby Harbwr brewery and sells their full range of beers. Neighbouring seaside village of Saundersfoot sees the Royal Oak Inn on Wogan Terrace which boasts a wide selection of real ales with a Welsh flavour, included in the guide.
On the outskirts of Tenby, the Cross Inn is also included, situated in the picturesque village of Penally.
Another notable inclusion nearby, is Cosheston’s Brewery Inn, with the Grade II-listed free house once accommodation for monks.
Other watering holes that feature across the county, include - CAMRA ‘Pub of the Year’ for 2024, The Cresselly Arms at Cresswell Quay; along with Lamphey’s Dial Inn; Fishguard’s Royal Oak Inn; Pembroke Dock’s First & Last; and The Ship Solva.
Across the border, Carmarthenshire’s Whitland Station House Hotel; and Laugharne’s New Three Mariners Inn are two of the premises that also feature.
CAMRA Chairman Ash Corbett-Collins said: “CAMRA’s mission is to ensure support from both the UK and Welsh Government as well as tangible legislation to protect pubs in this country.
“By next year’s edition of the Guide, we want to be talking about the beer and pub trade growing with the support of communities, Senedd and UK Parliament alike.”
