Plans for alterations at a Tenby public house were passed by members of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority’s development management committee last week.

Messrs. Jason Rossiter and Mike Evans submitted four applications for the Hope and Anchor Inn on St Julian’s Street, which went before the committee.

The plans feature internal alterations to the listed building, demolition of the existing modern rear kitchen, with extensions and a replacement new kitchen, toilets and staircase arrangement, on the ground and first floor.

New proposals will incorporate a spiral stair set against the indent in the pine end wall of the existing building, painted to match the pine end, and with new fire exit door in the pine end at first floor level at the top of stairs.

All four applications were approved by members of the committee as per the recommendations and subject to conditions, with committee member David Ellis commenting: “The plan is very attractive and I congratulate them on coming up with a first-rate design.”

Members of Tenby Town Council’s planning committee had given their thumbs up to the plans last month, stating that the alterations provided necessary health and safety requirements.
