ABLE Cadet Max Randles (pictured) from the Tenby Sea Cadet Unit was recently selected to compete with the National (UK) Sea Cadet shooting team at the 'Cadet Inter-service Skill at Arms Meeting' (CISSAM) on the ranges at Pirbright in Surrey. This annual event draws together the very best UK young 'hot shots' from the three cadet services.
AC Randles, having taken part in selection events, travelled to Bristol and then onto Pirbright for the weekend event, which involved 47 teams of five cadets from each of the services, target shooting with full bore weapons.
Whilst at Pirbright, Max enjoyed the opportunity to try clay pigeon shooting for the first time, and to his credit brought down nine out of the 10 clays put up. His overall scores placed him among the elite from all services, resulting in him being presented with the prestigious 'Sea Cadet Colours', only awarded to top cadet marksmen.
Whilst at the competition, all of the cadets were treated to a magnificent firework display at Bisley. It lasted for over 30 minutes and was set to music.
Shooting is just one of varied activities which Sea Cadets can enjoy; so if you're out to enjoy life, check out the web site at seacadets.ms-sc.org/Home and consider becoming a cadet for fun, friendship, adventure whilst learning new skills, or helping as a volunteer.
Go along to the unit on Tenby Harbour or call on 849641 Tuesday or Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 pm.
