A Tenby resident and his rowing partner are planning a trip over 3,200 miles across the Atlantic Ocean next year, for four worthy causes.

Tenby’s Andrew Ravenscroft and fellow rower Emma are preparing the monumental challenge to support four incredible charities.

In January 2026, they will row over 3,200 miles across the Atlantic Ocean, a journey that will take over 40 days of grueling shifts.

The duo are taking on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to raise awareness and funds four charities that hold personal significance to them: The Robin Cancer Trust, The MS Society, Megan Starr Foundation, and Wales Air Ambulance.

The funds raised will go towards covering the expedition's costs and making substantial donations to these important charities.

“Our row will consist of a gruelling 40+ days of rowing in a shift pattern of 2 hours on the oars, 2 hours off the oars when we will sleep, eat, complete general maintenance and our ablutions, yep you guessed it, in a bucket!” said Andrew.

Andrew and Emma said that if they are going to complete such an extraordinary challenge, they want to at least try to raise as much money as possible for those charities that are dear to them.

“To complete this endeavour, we need to raise enough money to cover the expedition's cost and would like to donate substantial amounts to our chosen charities,” continued Andrew.

“We have selected these charities as they are close to our hearts for personal reasons.”

One of Emma's closest friends was sadly diagnosed with ovarian cancer and died at only 52 years old shortly after.

Emma has spent the last couple of years fundraising for the Robin Cancer Trust and allows herself to remember the days when Batman (aka Emma) and Robin (aka Liz) were an infamous pair.

The Robin Cancer Trust are the UK's germ cell cancer community. It save lives by raising awareness – educating young people on the signs and symptoms of testicular and ovarian cancers through our award-winning digital campaigns and lifesaving educational programmes.

The Wales Air Ambulance’s medics provide emergency air and road cover across Wales, every day, 24/7, to those who face life-threatening illness or injury, providing advanced critical care on scene.

The Megan Starr Foundation has blossomed into a vibrant hub of mental health advocacy and support. In just the last two years, they have provided over 1,400 hours of both peer and professional support to young people.

The MS Society help to fund ground-breaking research and provides award-winning care and support. The work of the MS Society is invaluable to those suffering from MS and their families, helping them to live and cope with the condition on a day-to-day.

“Both of us have friends and family with MS and wish to raise as much as possible to help with the research supporting people to live more normal lives and achieve goals once not thought possible,” added Andrew.
