Pembrokeshire MP Henry Tufnell has welcomed the Government's new measures to tackle poor-quality insulation and energy efficiency installations under schemes such as ECO4.
This announcement, which strengthens consumer protections, follows Henry’s persistent advocacy on behalf of his constituents and his recent interventions in the House of Commons.
The Government's measures, announced today, include stricter enforcement against non-compliant installers and enhanced support for homeowners to resolve complaints.
All work under these schemes must be carried out by TrustMark registered businesses, ensuring adherence to the highest standards under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS). Furthermore, a clear route for redress through TrustMark will be strengthened to protect households and ensure accountability.
Henry Tufnell MP has long championed this issue, highlighting constituents' concerns over substandard insulation installations. In two written parliamentary questions last month, he pressed the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero on the support available to those affected.
He has reiterated his call for further vigilance in the House of Commons chamber, underscoring the importance of robust oversight in delivering energy efficiency improvements.
Speaking after the Government’s announcement, Henry said: “I am so pleased that our new Labour Government is taking action straight away on this issue.
“No one should have to deal with substandard installations or be faced with footing the bill for shoddy workmanship. I will work closely with the Government to ensure that the measures announced today by the Minister will deliver real change for households impacted.”
Henry urged constituents facing issues with recent installations to visit the TrustMark website for guidance on lodging complaints and seeking redress: www.trustmark.org.uk/homeowner/support/complaints-process
