A charity swim in Pembrokeshire already delayed from New Year’s Day, which was due to take place this weekend, has been cancelled once again - this time due to a pollution alert.
The organisers of the Angle New Year’s Day Dip, which raises funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation, had cancelled the January 1st event, due to adverse weather at the time, and now the rearranged swim due to take place on Saturday, Februray 1st, has also been scrapped.
“It's with very heavy hearts that we're having to announce that the New Year's Day Dip, which was postponed to 1st Feb due to the storms, is now cancelled,” organisers shared.
“Due to a pollution alert regarding storm sewage discharge in the West Angle location for a number of days, we have made the difficult decision to cancel.
“This decision prioritises the health and safety of our participants, as entering the sea under these conditions poses a significant risk of illness.
“We understand the disappointment this may cause, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.
“These events are important to raise much needed funds for the Paul Sartori Hospice at Home Service and we will hopefully run the New Year’s Day Dip on 1st January 2026 and look forward to seeing you then - thanks for your ongoing support,” they added.
