A small but regular movement of Mediterranean Gulls has been spotted through the Freshwater East area since the start of July.
Mediterranean Gulls used to be very rare in the UK.
Posting on Pembrokeshire Birds, John O’Sullivan comments: “Interestingly the movement has not just been coastal. Four times I have seen birds come in off the channel, climb high and then head inland up the valley heading NW, max flock of 11.”
The place for Pembrokeshire birders to share sightings, Pembrokeshire Birds (pembsbirds.blogspot.com) is managed and run by the Pembrokeshire Bird Group, a section of the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales. The blog sees a thousand hits a day and is regularly monitored by national bird news services.
