Following his sad loss earlier this year, Tenby Rugby Club have added a photograph of Owen (Shalikes) Rees to its ‘wall of fame’.

John Rees is pictured presenting the picture of his late brother, Owen to Harry Bolton, chairman of Tenby Rugby Club.

The portrait was taken by local photographer Mick Brown over 30 years ago.

When Owen passed away in July, Mick shared the photograph on the ‘Tenby Through Time’ Facebook page and there were hundreds of likes from people sharing their stories of Owen. Now he can be remembered with this picture in one of his favourite local spots.

Although Owen’s rugby playing career on the wing was brief, he was nevertheless a keen supporter of the team and club from the time when he made the teas with his mother, Burness, to playing in pool and darts team competitions and enjoying a drink with friends. He contributed greatly to the atmosphere and fun to be had at the club.

Owen was beloved by Tenby and his family are pleased that people can now see him back at Tenby Rugby Club.
