Cadets from Tenby Squadron Air Training Corps - Michael Wilson, Aled Smith and Antonio Rogers are seen with Cadets from Pembroke Squadron, who joined with 1,500 other participants attending the Royal Air Force, Walking and Road Marching Associations two-day marching event held at RAF Cosford last weekend. This international event, held annually, is attended primarily by military teams, but is open to the Air Training Corps. It consists of completing a 40- kilometre march in eight hours on two consecutive days - the equivalent of marching from Tenby to Carmarthen, then turning around and marching back. To reach the level of fitness required, meant a tremendous amount of demanding training by the local cadets, starting with 20-kilometre training marches at RAF Pembrey Sands, building to 30- kilometre marches at ATE Penally and culminating in practice marches of 40 kilometres a day at each of the two locations. This amount of effort highlights the high personal quality of these Cadets; qualities that were shown in abundance by each of the Cadets completing the event, resulting in them being awarded the highly respected Royal Air Force WARMA medal, presented by Wing Commander I. P. Woodhouse, Officer Commanding, RAF two-day marches.
