Auriol passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 13, after a prolonged fight against cancer.

Aged 78, she is survived by her devoted husband Paul, son Ian and daughter-in-law Beverley, brother Ron and his wife Bron, sister Pauline and her husband Greg. Also three granddaughters Sian, Alisha and Danielle and step-grandchildren Michael, Joseph, Jenny and Matthew.

The funeral service will take place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on Thursday, January 26, at 2.30 pm. Everyone is welcome to The Overlander, Penally, from 4 pm.

As reported previously, the death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital on Friday, December 2, of Mrs. Irene Lilian Richards, aged 77 years, of John Morgan Close, Narberth.

A native of Narberth, during her working life, Irene was employed at Templeton CP School as a dinner lady for over 30 years.

Her main interests were knitting for her family, bingo and friends at Narberth Rugby Club, supporting both Narberth RFC and Football Club, and her loving family.

Family left to mourn are Danny Richards (husband), Tracey and Chris (daughter and son-in-law), Mark and Jayne (son and daughter-in-law), Matthew, Rhian, Colette, Rebecca and Antonia (grandchildren), Tomi (great-grandson, Leah (great-granddaughter), Margaret and Graham (niece and nephew), Hannah, Sarah and James (great-nieces and nephew).

The funeral took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on December 12.

Officiating at the service was the Rev. Martin Cox, while bearers were Adrian Howells, Matthew Lloyd, Alex Poole and James Elkins.

The death occurred peacefully at Ashdale Nursing Home, Pembroke, on Saturday, December 24, of Mr. Terence Anthony Dick. He was 94.

PEMBROKE

As previously reported, the death occurred at Withybush General Hospital, on Christmas Day, of Mr. Bernard Trisram Argent Lewis, affectionately known as ‘Bernie’, of Gibbas Way, Pembroke. He was aged 83.

A native of Pembroke Dock, during his working life Bernard was an electrical apprentice and was employed by R. S. Hayes, Campbell and Isherwood and Shell UK Installation and Production, where he spent 10 years as the resident engineer on the Brent Bravo production platform.

As well as his family, his main interests were rugby, golf, reading and holidays in the sun. He was also an active member of Pembroke Round Table and past chairman.

He loved his rugby, having played for Nottingham during his National Service, then for Pembroke Dock Quins, where he captained the side and was also chairman after his playing days.

Along with wife Jean, family left to mourn are Sally-Ann and David Court, Joanne and James Adamson, Rachel and Jon Watson (daughters and sons-in-law); Simon and Neeve Barnikel, Jamie and Lisa Barnikel, Aaron Barnikel, Calum Adamson, Hannah Adamson, Isabella Watson, Sophia Watson (grandchidren), Daniel Barnikel and Sebastian Barnikel (great-grandchildren), May Porteous (sister).

The funeral took place on January 6 at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth.

Officiating at the service was the Rev. Roger Hart, while bearers were David Court, James Adamson, Simon Barnikel, Jamie Barnikel, Aaron Barnikel and Calum Adamson.

As reported previously, the death occurred peacefully at Withybush General Hospital, on Monday, December 26, of Mrs. Beryl Doreen Jones, of Alderman Lloyd Close, Bush Street, Pembroke Dock. She was 89.

Beryl worked as a caretaker of Pembroke Dock Youth Centre for 25 plus years. Her main interests were her family, reading, doing errands for other people, walking, her church and bingo.

Predeceased by her husband Wilfred Jones, family left to mourn are daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Dennis, son and daughter-in-law William and Denise, grandchildren, Ingrid, James, Geraint, Linda, Charles, Katie, Lucie, Neil, Thomas and Gemma, great-grandchildren Harry, Andrew, Ben, Rebecca, Tillie and Alfie, brothers Harry, Robert, David and John, sister Mary.

Unable to attend, sister Mary in Australia, brother and wife John and Joan, sisters-in-law Jenny and Pat, nieces and nephews, cousins and many friends.

The funeral took place at Zion Free Church, Pembroke Dock on Wednesday, January 4.

As repored previously, the death occured peacefully at Glanwili Hospital, Carmarthen, on Sunday, December 11, of Mr. Gwylfa Harries, also known as George, of Devon Drive, Pembroke.

Aged, 92, George was a native of Pembroke (born in Nantymoel).

He was a painter and decorator with Stanley Jones for appoximately 20 years and then with Frank Brown and Son until ill-health forced early retirement in 1986.

His main interests were DIY, gardening and his family - wife and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In later life, he enjoyed meeting old and new friends with Eileen, on the numerous organised coach trips around the country.

As well as his wife Eileen, family left to mourn are Janet and Jeff (daughter and son), Nancy Williams (sister), Louise and Mike Scourfield, Michelle and Luke Reynolds (granddaughters and husbands), Peter Kingdom (grandson), David Kingdom and Vicky (grandson and partner), Liam Scourfield, Lewys Scourfield, Joseph Reynolds and Josey Kingdom (great-grandchildren); Lorraine Phillips (partner of Jeff).

As previously reported, the death occurred at Park House Court Nursing Home, Tenby, on Friday, December 16, of Mr. John Evans, of Cold Inn, Kilgetty. He was aged 88.

A native of Cardiff, during his working life, John served in the Navy, as well as being a civil engineer and licensee.

His main interests were rugby, reading, gardening and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also a member of Enterprise Lodge, Kilgetty and PGL (Provincial Grand Lodge).

As well as his wife Valerie, family left to mourn are Gail, Julie and Dylan, Lynne and Chris (daughters and sons-in-law), Leon and Nancy, Amy and Hugo, Alex, Tiffany and Andrew, Jakita (grandchildren and partners), Chê, Taya, Roxanne, Pixie, Rae, Amelia, Wilson, Ellis and Tomos (great-grandchildren), Alice (daughter-in-law), Joan Simmons and Pat Parkhurst (sisters), numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

The death occurred peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and following a long illness of Mrs. Carol Joy Caldwell, of The Green, Hundleton. She was 78.

MRS. M. A. HUMBER

PEMBROKE DOCK

The death occurred at Ashdale Care Home, in Pembroke, on December 18, of Margaret Anne Humber (Peggy). She was 105.

Peggy was born at Bletherston, near Narberth, into a farming family, the eldest child of John and Phoebe Gibby. When Peggy was four-years-old, the family moved to Windmill Hill Farm, near Pembroke, where she spent the rest of her childhood. She first attended Monkton School and then Barnet House School, in Pembroke.

In 1940, she married Pembroke Dock businessman Victor Humber and helped run the ladies hairdressing business and fancy shop, in Dimond Street. In 1955, she and her husband also took over the adjacent family newsagents, tobacconist and toyshop business, which they jointly ran until Victor’s death in 1988. Peggy then retired, to live in Charlton Place. In 2012, Peggy moved into Ashdale Care Home, where she lived happily until her death.

She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, firstly at Mount Pleasant in Pembroke, and latterly at Bethel in Pembroke Dock. She and her husband were keen golfers and were members of Tenby Golf Club for many years, and later were founder members of the South Pembrokeshire Golf Club.

Peggy had a wide range of interests. In her younger days she had been a member of the Penfro Dramatic Society. She had also been a member of the Pembroke Arts Club and the South Pembrokeshire Flower Society. More recently, she had been honorary pesident of the local ladies section of the Royal British Legion and the Pembroke and District Chrysanthemum Society. Peggy was also an enthusiastic amateur painter and exhibited her work in local exhibitions.

Peggy’s funeral took place at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, on January 5, where Pastor Michael Bave, of Bethel Baptist Church, officiated. The organist was Jill Williams. Over 100 mourners were present, and refreshments were held afterwards at Plas Hyfyrd Hotel, Narberth.

The principal mourners were: David and Libby Humber (son and daughter-in-law); Sean Humber and Alison Millar (grandson and wife); Seren Millar (great-granddaughter); Morgan Humber (great-grandson); Lexie Humber (great-granddaughter) and James Dodd (step-grandson), together with numerous nephews, nieces and other family members.

The death occurred peacefully on Saturday, January 14, at his home in Wooden of Mr. Lewis James Hilling. He was aged 93.

He was a much-loved husband, father, grampa and great-grampa.

The death occurred tragically on Sunday, November 27, of driving instructor, Mrs. Vanessa Claire McAloon, of Bosherston, Pembroke. She was 48.

The funeral will take place today (Friday, January 20) with a service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 1 pm.

The death occurred peacefully at Ashdale Nursing Home, Pembroke, on Tuesday, January 17, of Mr. John Shanklin, aged 78 years, of Flemish Court, Lamphey.

Devoted husband of the late Barbara, dearly-loved dad, treasured grandfather and great-grandfather, much-loved brother.

As reported last week, the death occurred peacefully at Withybush Hospital of Mrs. Yvonne Lesley Harding, of Churchill Park, Jeffreyston.

Aged 59, Yvonne will be sadly missed by her mother Pamela and all their family and friends.

The funeral takes place on Wednesday, January 25, with a service at Parc Gwyn Crematorium, Narberth, at 11.30 am.
