Pictured above are the Dyffryn Taf team who lost narrowly to Ystalyfera Comprehensive School in the Welsh National Under 14 Cup.
On their way to this stage, they won their section of the Carmarthenshire League, beat Bro Gwyr in the first round, Milford Haven in the second round and Ysgol y Berwyn, Bala in their quarter-final.
The score of 17-3 does not reflect the territorial and possession advantage Dyffryn Taf gained in this encounter; they lost the match through three breakaway tries.
All bodes well for the rugby future at the school, as the 1st XV won through to the quarter-final of the National Plate Competition, losing to Pencoed.
Two of the key players in this team have also gained international honours, Lloyd Phillips (Wales A U16 v Italy) and Jonathan Davies (Wales v Italy). Jonathan will play against the Italians at home later this term.

Five schools competed in a top quality debating competition at Dyffryn Taf, organised by the local Rotary Clubs.
In front of an audience of over 60, topics were debated including 'Media Violence', 'GM Crops' and 'Dreams into Reality'. All teams performed well and there were excellent performances from the Year 11 Dyffryn Taf team of Joe Bishop, Poppy Lewis and Jacob Sargeant.
The team did not gain the top slot, but promise to be a force to be reckoned with in debating competitions over the next two years.
Careers News
Ten pupils from Dyffryn Taf took part in the Annual Careers Wales/Army Invitation Day at Carmarthen Showground on Thursday, March 4. The competition, for secondary schools in Dyfed, set challenges which pupils had to answer for themselves through communication.
Team building skills and leadership qualities come to the fore, with all concerned having to use not only physical strength and dexterity, but also mental agility.
A good day was had by one and all, with pupils definitely benefiting from the experience.
