At January’s meeting of Penally Community Council, the following matters were discussed...

Cllr Snow reported the Finance group had met and set the proposed budget for the year ahead.

The clerk presented the Precept proposal and budget for the Community Council for financial year 2023-24. Cllr D’Arcy proposed the Precept of £16020 to remain the same as the current year having no increase. Cllr Neil seconded the proposal, with all councillors in full agreement.

The following planning application: 22/0652/PA Green Top, 4 Kenystyle, Penally, SA707PH was conditionally approved.

The clerk reported that an email had been received from a resident, complimentary on the Christmas newsletter, also commenting on the issues raised with regard to the speed limit within the village.

Concern was raised on the crossing of the main carriageway over to the train station and South Beach walk. There was an offer from the resident to assist in any future projects.

The clerk reported a letter had been received from Pembrokeshire County Council advising of the possible ‘asset transfer’ or closure of public toilets within the County.

Details on current running costs has been requested, with the proposal included in the public consultation document.

Following the consultation exercise, if the proposal is agreed, PCC will liaise with local Community Councils to agree a way forward.

Cllr Snow reported that the first ‘Warm Space’ session was to be held in the Village Hall on Wednesday, January 18 at 2pm.

A report from the County Councillor for the ward, Cllr Phil Kidney came before members.

Concerns were raised again from residents regarding bus route, buses not going through the village, and passengers being left stranded. Cllr Kidney stated that he was due to meet an officer from PCC in the village to discuss the issue.

A review is currently underway regarding the location of ‘grit’ bins within the Community.

Cllr Kidney also stated that following discussions with the Long Course Weekend event organisers, there would be variations to the start and finish of the sporting event to alleviate problems caused during the last event.

Organisers are keen to meet the Community, with a request to be made to the organisers to attend a future community meeting.

The next meeting will be held on February 8 at Penally Village Hall.
