A new charity based in Tenby has been formed to benefit young people in Pembrokeshire.

The Tenby and County Trust (TACT) was formed with a legacy from the sale of the Tenby and County Club along The Croft.

Its purpose is to help young people in Pembrokeshire through the provision of grants to enable them to pursue their aspirations and ambitions.

The aims of the charity are to meet the needs of young people aged 5-18 years, to promote their personal and social development and advancement in life through the provision of financial support.

It also aims to help young people to develop their skills, capacities and capabilities in the fields of the creative arts, culture, sports, adventure, science and languages, enabling them to participate in society as independent, mature and responsible individuals.

One of the trustees, David Blackmore explained: “The Trustees are all well know local people who have either been involved with the County Club or who have been prominent in education in the county.

“When the County Club was sold, as shareholders, the members were entitled to a share of sale proceeds. At a club meeting prior to the sale the membership agreed that a charity should be established to receive the money to help young people in Pembrokeshire.”

To apply applicants should email the secretary of the Trust with the names and emails of two supporting sponsors and stating in no more than 500 words how they would use and benefit from a grant with a breakdown of potential costs.

Grants will be issued quarterly and the deadline for the next grant application is March 1st 2025.

Grants will only be issued to individuals.
