Pembrokeshire County Council confirmed this week that they have appointed agents to look at how both the multi-storey car park area and the Butts Field car park site can be made more attractive and still retain car parking provision. As a result, two schemes have been produced relating to these important gateway sites to the town. "With a view to drawing up a detailed planning application, the county council is currently in discussion with the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority on the multi-storey car park scheme, which aims to screen the structure from view," said a spokesman for the authority. "There are still some planning issues to be resolved in relation to the Butts Field car park site before that scheme can proceed further." FOOTNOTE: Earlier this summer, Tenby Town Council heard from the county's director of development, Mr. Roger Barrett-Evans, that ideas for improving the multi-storey car park included developing around it with the possible introduction of residential apartments, retail unit and a tourist information centre, which would improve linkages to the town centre.
