LAST Friday (August 18), the new joint exhibition by sculptor Darren Yeadon and painter Heather Nixon was officially opened by Duncan Fitzwilliams at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery.
In his opening speech, Mr. Fitzwilliams said that it was a “great pleasure to see the works of these two artists in this wonderful space. It is such a vibrant exhibition, full of movement and energy and fun. Heather’s paintings are joyful, they sing of the joys and colours of Pembrokeshire. I am more familiar with Darren’s work and recently came back from a trip to a quarry in Carrara, where he gets his marble from as Michelangelo did for his famed sculpture of David, and saw how Darren was treated here like a hero. He is perceived, and rightly so, as one of the few people in the world who can see a shape in a lump of stone and carve away what is not needed until only this perfect creation is left. This is a wonderful exhibition and I congratulate both artists on their work.”
This sales exhibition of sculpture and paintings runs at the museum until Sunday, October 1.
