DYFED-POWYS Police Authority are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Ian Arundale to the position of Chief Constable. Mr. Arundle is currently Deputy Chief Constable of West Mercia Police and is expected to take over in June. He succeeds Mr. Terry Grange, who retired from the force last year. Mr. Arundale started his career with South Wales Police and has a degree from the University of Glamorgan. He is chairman of the Association of Chief Police Officers' (Acpo) firearms working group and is responsible for producing policy governing the police use of firearms throughout the UK. The current Acting Chief Constable, Mr. Andrew Edwards, added that he was delighted at the appointment of such an experienced officer who has strong links with the area and the force looked forward to further developing its excellent operational reputation under his leadership.
