Due to the recent outbreak of the Coronavirus outbreak Narberth Town Council has decided to connect with its residents by launching a brand new Facebook page.
The Mayor of Narberth, Clr. Christopher Walters, explained: “Due to all the uncertainty going around and with most people on the Social Network platform we thought it was about time we connected with the Narberth community and kept them up to date with as much information about events and actions happening which could affect Narberth town.”
Clr. Walters added: “It’s fair to say nobody knows how the Coronavirus will affect everyone’s town and community, but we all actively need to do our bit to work as one.
“I know where I live in Narberth our estate has a private group sending out messages to each other checking if anyone needs anything and sending out positive messages of support.
“I would like to express my personal thanks to many local businesses and individuals who have offered local deliveries, pick-ups and even those willing to risk catching the virus by acting as carers checking on those who are self-isolating or elderly.”
Narberth Town Council says it is working very carefully and is monitoring the situation.
The council also says that it is working with local county councillors Clr. Vic Dennis and Clr. Elwyn Morse to ensure they do everything in thier power to support the citizens of the town.
“As a town council, we don’t hold many powers, but as individuals, we will do all we can to support our community,” Clr. Walter continued.
“This is a very scary time for the unknown, but I know we have a great community spirit and we will get over this and become stronger.
“I do encourage everyone though - if you can follow the government guidance of self-isolating, working from home and avoiding unnecessary contact, to please do so!
“Each day the government is announcing more and more restrictions with possible solutions and all we can do as a community is to support them and act responsibly - the main two being remember to wash your hands regularly and when socialising stay at least two metres away from each other.”
