Narberth has been named in a list of ‘Best Places to Live’ in Wales.

Ten locations in Wales have been named among the ‘Best Places to Live in Britain’ by The Sunday Times with Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan being crowned as the Best Place to Live in Wales.

The accolade comes in part one of The Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide, which is published on Sunday.

The annual supplements combine data and statistics such as crime rates, house prices and school performance with the local knowledge and expertise of Sunday Times writers to compile the definitive top locations to make your home.

The locations were selected for offering the best quality of life to the widest number of people, and combining desirable features such as a positive community spirit, good local shops and services and attractive outdoor spaces.

Narberth featues alongside - Abersoch, Aberystwyth, Colwinston, Crickhowell, Langland, Llangollen, Llanidloes, and Monmouth.

Commenting on The Sunday Times Best Places to Live, home editor Helen Davies said: “Britain is full of great places to live, and our annual supplement celebrates the richness on offer from bustling market towns and buzzing city centres to sociable suburbs and sleepy hamlets.

“We go beyond dry statistics, drawing on personal experience and the expertise of our writers, to create the definitive list of the best places to live in the UK.”Pembrokeshire County Council Chairman and long-time Narberth resident, Wynne Evans, said he wasn’t at all surprised to learn that the town was one of the top ten places to live in Wales.“Personally I would put it in the top ten in the whole of the UK,” said Councillor Evans.“Narberth has an awful lot going for it, not least its location. It’s practically in the heart of Pembrokeshire yet only 20 minutes from a magnificent coastline with splendid beaches.“As a market town, it’s also a shopper’s paradise with a variety of independent shops selling quality goods, and a range of restaurants.“And of course there are the people themselves who are the friendliest you could wish to meet so it is an ideal place to bring up a family.”
