The Amroth Arms and Harvey’s Murder Mystery Group combined forces recently to mount a highly successful fund raising event in aid of C.R.Y. (Cardiac Risk in the Young).
The very talented chef and his staff served a magnificent three-course meal to nearly a hundred guests, during which aspiring ‘sleuth’ were faced with a line-up of dubious looking suspected murderers. Under ‘interrogation’ the ‘suspects’ raised many laughs as well as eyebrows, as the pace hotted up to discover ‘whodunnit’.
The competitive spirit ran riot as guests became desperate to be awarded the box of luxury chocolates, donated by the pub to the winning table.
Following the raffle, (for which thanks are due to the many local residents and businesses who generously donated prizes), June Howell, the ‘Undertaker’/MC was delighted to announce that the sum of £568.50 had been raised for C.R.Y.
She also thanked the owners of the Amroth Arms for organising such a successful event.
The logistics were challenging, with actors working around a restaurant filled to capacity, a roaring wood burner taking centre stage, and space needed to accommodate the group’s podium, not to mention the chalked outline of the victim’s body in the midst of all!
All of this, guests and actors, took in their stride, although any guests caught striding over the ‘body’ in a disrespectful manner were severely admonished by the undertaker!
The next three ‘Murder Mystery’ evenings to be held in the spring, in Pembroke, Lawrenny and Gelliswick, (dates T.B.C.) will be in aid of the ‘Tall Ships Assoc.’. A naughty nautical theme is called for, so, loosely based on Darwin’s voyage on The Beagle, the lesser known, ‘Carwen’s Voyage on the Eagle’ will be awash, (literally and figuratively) with dastardly deeds!
Harvey’s Murder Mysteries have recently purchased a number of costumes from ‘Griggles’, Tenby’s fancy dress shop, which is due to close down in the near future. Once their costs have been recovered, the group will donate all costume hire proceeds to charity.
