A ‘mining and nautical’ theme could be included in any enhancment of Kilgetty’s play area.
In a report to members of Kilgetty and Begelly Community Council this month, county councillor for the ward Cllr Alistair Cameron said that a grant application from the ‘Enhancing Pembrokeshire Scheme’ of £100,000 for new play equipment had been deferred by the County Council’s Cabinet until the next deadline of July 12, to ensure that the tendering process is complete, and all local consultations have been completed.
“As part of the consultation process, Cllr Jerry Long and myself exhibited the plans on Bank Holiday Monday at the football tournament at Kingsmoor Sports Field where they were met with a very positive reaction,” explained Cllr Cameron.
Cllr Long presented to councillors the preferred supplier and their draft illustrations.
There had been a number of stipulations within the tender document, the proposal would require, including - a mining theme, to be inclusive and a nautical element, a Zip-wire, swings, various other play equipment, benches, and pathways for ease of access.
It was agreed that the preferred supplier be awarded the contract subject to consultation with the community and the funding bid being successful.
