Artist Monica Groves is holding a Meet the Artist session at Tenby Museum and Art Gallery today (Friday) between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm.

The sales exhibition of Monica's work, Spirit of Place, is currently on show in the New Art Gallery at Tenby Museum.

The exhibition was officially opened on Friday, May 25, and runs until Sunday, June 24.

The Meet the Artist session will give visitors the opportunity to discuss the work with Monica and offer a fascinating insight into the stories behind the pictures in the exhibition.

Born in London of Irish extraction, Monica lives and works both in Pembrokeshire. Having spent many years sailing in Celtic waters, she feels challenged to paint the beauty, history and culture of these areas, especially the Pembrokeshire coastline where she lives, concentrating on the essence of location rather than the scenery itself. Her painting is intuitive, focusing on the interaction of colour and attempts to define a spirit of place among the stones, springs, mountains islands, trees and holy places within a Celtic landscape.
