ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Martletwy YFC annual general meeting was held recently and brought members up to date with everything that had been done in the previous year. President Janet Mathias chaired the meeting, and was joined at the top table by chairman Tom Morris, secretary Suzie Morgan, treasurer Diane Parry and leader John Davies.

It was felt by everyone present at the meeting that these four individuals had done a superb job of keeping the club together throughout what many would describe as a crippling year for the Young Farmers Institute due to the foot and mouth crisis.

But with a new year in prospect, the introduction of new officials was imminent. The following have been elected to stand for the up and coming year.

Chairman - Wynne Jenkins; vice-chairman - Janet Hine; secretary - Lois Howlett-Dyer; assistant secretary - Gordon Miller; programme and activities secretary - Philip Davies; treasurer - Dianne Parry; press correspondent - Stefan Jenkins; registrar - Dean Rees; scrapbook - Tom Morris, Stefan Jenkins, Tom Clarke and Lois Howlett-Dyer; leaders - John Davies, Tom Summons, William Jones and Marcus Beynon.

It is hoped that the 2001/2002 officials will have a slightly easier year than the previous lot and the best of luck is granted to you all.

ANNUAL DINNER

At last, after being postponed due to foot and mouth in the spring, the annual dinner on October 5 was held at the Cartwheel Restaurant, Amroth. A large gathering of members (past as well as present) along with friends, were present who enjoyed quite simply a dazzling meal, which was of the highest standard.

A large thank you must go to the Cartwheel kitchen staff for providing such a feast for diners. As feedback suggested, this was probably the best dinner Martletwy YFC has had in many years.

After the food, and lots (and lots) of beverages, the speeches took place. Guest speaker Sharon Knox introduced (among other speech-makers) Edna Davies - county president, Anthea Phillips - county chairman, Tom Morris - (then) chairman and Wynne Jenkins (then) vice-chairman.

The presentations were next on the night's agenda and among the winners of awards were Sion Jenkins, Wynne Jenkins, Aimee Hicks, Dianne Parry, Janet Hine and Gordon Miller.

A big thank you must go to anyone who contributed to the evening and a special thanks to the Cartwheel for their excellent hospitality and service.
