Family-run holiday cottage agency, Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire, has launched a ‘Say It Like A Local’ campaign in time for March 1, St David’s Day.
Now, potential guests looking at its cottage collection online will be able to check the pronunciation of more than 100 Welsh cottage names by pressing newly introduced audio buttons.
These easy-to-use sound buttons will provide users who are unfamiliar with the language of Wales with an audio clip of the property name spoken in Welsh. Coastal Cottages of Pembrokeshire aims to inspire confidence in those unsure of how to pronounce Welsh, while giving them an insight into an historic culture and language.
“Names like Llain Gwynfor, Y Sied, Cnwc Y Wylan, Ty Lwcus or Cych can be challenging for those who don’t speak Welsh or who are less confident with the language,” said Matthew Evans, CEO, “so we are delighted to introduce this informative and fun feature on our website.”
“We want our non-Welsh speaking guests to have a taste of our beautiful language,” he added.
Established in Abercastle in 1982 before moving to Haverfordwest in the early 2000s, Coastal Cottages are particularly proud of their Pembrokeshire heritage.
