The Begelly Kilgetty Community Association, in conjunction with staff volunteers from the Coop Store in Kilgetty, are holding a special garden party with a difference this weekend.

On Sunday, starting at 10 am, everyone is invited to the party.

The association are starting to clear the ground ready for the building of the Trim Trail and fitness area together with the children's adventure play area.

All residents, young and old, are invited to go along to the community garden on Sunday to help with this exciting project. Just turn up with your garden tools - spades, rakes and wheelbarrows - and get stuck in.

Commenting on the project, County Clr. David Pugh said: "Kilgetty does not have a children's play area at present and it has been a priority to get one built in the village. This is the start of an ongoing scheme to develop this area of land for community use. I am delighted that the community association and the staff members from the Co-op Store are breaking new ground in community co-operation and setting a trend for community partnerships.

"I really hope that the residents of Kilgetty who have constantly asked for the play area will join in and help prepare the ground. We intend to make it a fun day and enjoyable for all. Hot soup, bread and cheese will be served for lunch by the association volunteers, so please come along and make this a special garden party.

"I would like to thank store manager Chris Perkins and his staff for their help and fund-raising efforts for this project."

Community Clr. David Anderson commented: "A lot of hard work has already gone into the creation of the community garden by a dedicated band of enthusiasts and this scheme is the next stage in the development of the site to enhance the village amenities.

"I hope that the families with children of all ages will come along and help with the play area. It would be nice to see the whole community getting involved and creating something really special for Kilgetty and Begelly."
