This summer, Kilgetty Football Club has a full programme of events planned to mark the club’s 2024 centenary.
We’ll be saying more about the club’s history in future issues, but suffice to say that Kilgetty AFC has grown immensely over its 100-year lifespan so far, with almost 300 members, three senior men’s teams, four junior mixed teams, over 70 girls and 20 women registered. The club has been awarded FAW Trust Platinum Accreditation for the fourth year in a row.
Kilgetty AFC’s own Liam Cullen, 24, moves from strength to strength in his footballing achievements. Fondly named “Kilgetty Messi,” Liam’s journey from grassroots to representing his country in 2023, makes Kilgetty extremely proud.
Centenary events are as follows:
From August 20 to 30, Centenary Posters designed by pupils of Stepaside School Kilgetty are on display in the village shops.
August 25: Kilgetty AFC Football Activities - Kilgetty Fete.
On August 29, Kilgetty AFC 3rds first game home - including centenary photographs.
On August 31, Kilgetty AFC will be hosting a black-tie Centenary Dinner to celebrate the landmark occasion of reaching 100 years as a football club. This event is the figurehead of a year filled with a plethora of centenary celebrations involving the whole community.
The evening will include a three-course sit-down meal in a marquee in front of the clubhouse with plenty of entertainment from a magician, a live auction and a live band as well as a Q&A session with Welsh goalkeeping legend Neville Southall.

September 1 is Open Day and Centenary Display with Centenary All Stars Match at Kingsmoor Sports Club.
From September 9 to 22, Fairtrade Fortnight, Kilgetty Centenary Fair Trade Cup, organised by Fair Trade in Football Campaign - Kilgetty Juniors v Stepaside School teams.
