Jess the Jack Russell dog who found her way to Tenby alongside a former Welsh soldier on his coastal charity challenge has found a new forever home.
The pooch accompanied ex-paratrooper Christian Lewis as he set out on his 14,000 km epic journey to walk the entire UK coastline to raise money for the SSAFA Armed Forces charity, but after making it as far as Tenby, Jess could no longer soldier on due to a poorly leg.
Local resident and town councillor Maureen Ward, who previously ran the Tenby Animal Rescue Centre was contacted, and kindly agreed that Jess could reside with her, until a new home was found.
“We had several enquiries thanks to the Observer story, and I’m pleased to say that Jess has found a new home locally,” said Maureen.
“Jess pretty much chose her new owner herself, as when they came around, she went and sat on their lap!
“I’m also pleased to say that all of Jess’s treatments at Tenby Vets have been paid off too, thanks to kind donations given there, with over £200 raised. Any monies left over following her treatment will now be donated to Greenacres Animal Rescue Centre,” added Maureen.
