A hockey team from Templeton School travelled to Cardigan Leisure Centre on Monday for the Ceredigion Zone Final of the 'Activate' Welsh Primary Schools Hockey Competition. Teams from Carreg Hirfaen (Lampeter), Talybont, Plascrug and Holy Name RC (Fishguard) joined them in a day of hockey, organised by Helen Thomas (hockey development officer for Ceredigion). Five teams competed on the day for a place in the final, to be held in Newtown on Friday, July 4. Templeton won two games and drew the other two. At this point, they were unsure whether they had done enough to book their place in Newtown. After a very close last game between Holy Name RC, who overcame their opponents Talybont to win by one goal, the place was decided - Templeton would once again be travelling to Newtown to represent this area. This is a great achievement for such a small school as it is the third time in four years that a team from Templeton has made the Welsh finals. If there is anyone who would like to sponsor the team in their efforts to transport the children to Newtown, could you please contact Mr. Perkins at Templeton School (tel. 01834 860657). Many thanks to all the parents and grandparents who helped to transport the children to Cardigan and for supporting them throughout a very busy day.
