This autumn, Graffeg is publishing Hinterland: Ceredigion Landscapes, a much-anticipated collection of location and behind-the-scenes photographs and essays from the hit TV series Hinterland, edited by the TV series creators Ed Talfan and Ed Thomas.

Full of striking black and white location photographs from David Wilson, behind the scenes production images and essays by the contributors, Hinterland: Ceredigion Landscapes will be a must have collection for fans of Hinterland and landscape photography alike.

Ed Talfan and Ed Thomas say: “This is a stunning book, and compliments the TV series so well. I am sure it will be a hit with fans of the TV series as it reflects the dark and fascinating world of a detective working on strange events that take place in an ancient landscape.

“From the beginning, our greatest inspiration for the series was the landscape. From the marshlands of Borth to the surging waters of Devil’s Bridge, everywhere we went, it seemed there were stories waiting to be discovered.”

Photographer David Wilson adds: “As an avid fan of Hinterland, I embarked on this project with euphoric anticipation. This was an opportunity to capture one of the grittiest and most authentic landscapes ever brought to the small screen. For me, photographing the landscape is about telling stories; composing visual narratives. It’s been a great photographic journey.”

Hinterland/Y Gwyll is a noir police detective drama set in the west Wales county of Ceredigion and a highly-regarded addition to the Nordic Noir genre made famous by TV shows Wallander, The Killing and The Bridge.

Now in its third series, Hinterland has become an international hit, and is broadcast in more than 100 countries around the world. Every 90 minute episode is written, filmed and broadcast in both Welsh with subtitles and English, on S4C and BBC. It is also available to a world wide audience on Netflix.
