Tenby Civic Society are organising a special Heritage Day - with tours around some of the seaside town’s rich heritage and famous landmarks.

The day will coincide with the last day of the Tenby Community Festival on Sunday, September 29.

“Tenby Civic Society are trying out a new idea - we have arranged tours featuring in the town’s rich heritage, many offering entry to places beyond the public’s normal access,” explained Chris Osborne from the Civic Society.

“The concept is to offer access to residents and visitors to places normally beyond the public eye. So if anyone is curious about any of these venues, this is the opportunity.

“Additionally, as part of the RNLI's 200th anniversary, we are going to ask our tours followers for contributions to Tenby RNLI funds.

“We expect some of the tours to be popular, so we're running an advanced only booking process,” he added.

Working with owners of each venue, the day will comprise the following:

• 11am to 1pm - Lifeboat Houses x 5 Tour; Freemasons' Lodge

• 11.30am to 12.30pm -Tenby Weather Tower

• 12 to 2pm - Mayor's Parlour; Town Walls

• 2 to 4pm - St Mary's Bell Tower/St Mary's Church (behind the scenes)

This initiative falls within CADW’s Open Doors scheme and will be collecting contributions at each venue towards Tenby RNLI.

Advance bookings can be made on 01834 842 730.
