There was ‘heartbreaking’ news for football fans in Tenby this week, as the resort’s club announced that both senior sides had officially been withdrawn from the Pembrokeshire football league.

A statement issued by Tenby AFC on Monday stated: “On a night when a decision had to be made to the league whether or not the club would participate this season a total of six players turned up for training which is astonishing!” with the post going on to say that the demise had been ‘heartbreaking’, especially looking back to little over three years ago when the club won the Senior Cup.

“As long as the road maybe we will come back from this and we will come back a lot stronger!” added the statement.

Only back at the end of June first team manager Richard Perry announced how much he and the club were looking forward to the new season ahead, along with fellow first team manager Peter Fearn, and Adam Brown who was announced to be taking charge of the newly reformed seconds team which were due to start in Division 5.

The Seasiders’ junior and mini side will not be affected by the decision in anyway the statement clarified, stating that all teams are in ‘very good hands as always’.

In light of the decision, Pembrokeshire League secretary Brian Hawkins stated that amendments would now be made to the league structure and Senior Cup draw.

Tenby’s withdrawal means that Narberth AFC who were relegated last season, will remain in Division One.
