A Pembrokeshire man has raised over £1,000 for Withybush Hospital’s ICU at a party for his 90th birthday.

Raymond Morris, of Llandissilio, raised £1,050 for the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Withybush Hospital during his 90th birthday celebrations.

In 2019, after a 15-hour operation, Raymond was admitted to the ICU where he spent two weeks. Six years on, Raymond wanted to show his appreciation to the unit for the fantastic care he received.

On February 15, Raymond celebrated his 90th birthday. A party was held at Caffi Beca in Efailwen with over 80 guests attending. Raymond asked for donations for the ICU in lieu of presents.

Raymond said: “I wanted to give back to the fantastic team who looked after me so well. I can’t thank them enough and raising funds for the unit on my 90th birthday was the perfect opportunity to support them. Thank you again to all the amazing staff and a big thank you to everyone who donated.”

Katie Hancock, Fundraising Officer, said: “Thank you so much to Raymond for choosing to fundraise for us during your 90th birthday celebrations.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”

Your donations are making a positive difference to the health, wellbeing and experience of NHS patients, service users and staff.
