A father whose daughter was born six weeks premature will be climbing Cadair Idris for 24 hours to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Glangwili Hospital.

Hefin Thomas who is taking on the challenge on May 2, said: “On the 1st May 2018, my daughter, Cala-Mai, was born six weeks premature. Since then, she's grown into a bright and healthy girl. The care she received from the staff on the ward was amazing.

“I can't thank the staff enough for looking after Cala-Mai and our family during our time at the hospital. This is something I’ve wanted to do for a while and it’s our way of giving something back as a thanks for all their hard work. Thank you.”

Nicola Llewellyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, said: “We’d like to say a massive good luck to Hefin on his 24-hour challenge.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
