Reacting to the news that Pembrokeshire could be the site of a new Enterprize Zone, local MP Simon Hart said yesterday: "I am delighted to hear that Pembrokeshire could become one of Wales's new Enterprise Zones, no others exist in the west and creating one based around the Milford Haven Waterway makes good sense.

"It is an important hub for the UK energy industry and we have some world-class businesses already based there, it makes sense to build on that level of knowledge and expertise that already exists in the area."

Local Assembly Member Paul Davies has also welcomed the Welsh Government's announcement.

"I am pleased that the Welsh Government is looking at creating an enterprise zone in Pembrokeshire, which will no doubt help boost the local economy." he said. "Pembrokeshire is a prime choice for an enterprise zone location, given the importance of the area to both Wales and the UK's energy sector.

"I appreciate that because of the nature of the area, discussions are needed with the UK Government and other key stakeholders before any final decisions are confirmed. However, I hope that the Welsh Government will ensure that this proposal will be fully approved.

"There are a number of additional benefits to having an enterprise zone in Pembrokeshire, including the roll out of high-speed broadband in the area and further transport infrastructure enhancements. I hope that forthcoming discussions will be positive and the Welsh Government fully commits to the Haven Waterway enterprise zone proposal so that it may become operational as soon as possible."
