Dolphin Class pupils at Tenby Church in Wales Primary School came to the rescue this month after some of the seaside town’s floral displays overlooking North Beach were targeted by vandals.
At the beginning of August, one of the flower troughs on the zig zags down to the beach was vandalised, wit the flowers hurled over the clifftop!
As well as slamming the actions of the vandals, County Councillor for Tenby’s south ward Cllr Sam Skyrme-Blackhall issued an appeal to see if anyone could assist with replacing the flowers.
Soon after she received a call from Rachel Couch, a member of staff at the Dolphin Class of Tenby Church in Wales Primary School.
The children at the school had been growing flowers as part of their learning in the summer term, with the beautiful flowers carefully nurtured by pupils in the grounds of the school.
Rachel said: “With the school holidays, after all the hard work of the pupils, the flowers were sitting in the grounds of the school, unseen as they continued to bloom.
“It seemed a good idea to donate them so that the town and visitors could enjoy them.”
Their donated flowers are now in pride of place at the top of the zig zags on North Beach - a spot that many stand to capture the stunning views of the town’s picturesque harbour.
Cllr. Skyrme-Blackhall said: “A big thank you to the school, to Rachel and her helpers Lottie and Olivia Dashfield from Dolphin Class at Tenby Church in Wales School.
“I am delighted that we are also going to work together in the future to enable the product of our ‘green-fingered’ children to be displayed in the town.”
