Well known local Tenby couple Clive and Ruth Webb are celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary today (Friday, September 9)

Married on September 9 1972 at Heol Nazareth Chapel, Pontyates, the couple then made their home in Tenby. Clive, the son of Jack and Gladys Webb, was a painter and decorator in the family building firm of J&M Webb; and Ruth, daughter of Oliver and Eulfwyn Williams of Pontyates, worked in Barclays Bank, Tenby.

After a few years the couple were then to become the proud parents of firstly Jonathan and then Victoria (Tori) some five years later.

Firmly established in Tenby the couple continued to mix both work and social activities, with both being involved in the local Round Table and Ladies Circle organisations, helping raise thousands for charity over the years.

Ruth by this stage had retuned to work, then at Lloyds Bank where she made many friends with both colleagues and customers alike; whilst Clive continued to work for the family firm.

Although others will also know him for his services to Tenby Fire Brigade, where he served as both a firefighter and thereafter Station Officer for over 30 years.

Their family grew as they welcomed first Harry and then Jack, Oliver and Tilly as grandchildren and their lives were complete. With a handful of grandchildren to keep them on their toes (and keep them young!) - ‘Pappy and Mimo’ have now made their home a favourite place for all of their grandchildren, to the extent that any thought of moving and downsizing are being continually shelved at the protestations of the children telling them they can’t sell!

Both are still active in the community, and members of St Mary’s Church, where they are both also keen bell ringers, regularly ringing on both Saturdays for weddings, and Sunday mornings, calling the congregation to prayer.

The couple are wished all the best for the next 50 years together.
