A further ‘march for Gaza’ protest will take place in the county this weekend, with campaign groups now aiming fire at the fact that Pembrokeshire County Council are hosting a banking space for Barclays.

The protest which will take place on Saturday, June 29, at Haverfordwest’s Castle Square at 1pm, has been called by campaign groups ‘Solidarity with Palestine Pembrokeshire’ and ‘Stop the War Coalition Pembrokeshire’ - supported by Ceredigion Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Carmarthen Palestine Solidarity Group, Swansea Palestine, FBU Wales and PCS Wales.

Solidarity with Palestine Pembrokeshire has stated that reports of ‘daily massacres’ have all but disappeared from our screens as news of politician betting scandals and other election coverage dominate the headlines.

“Netanyahu and his Israeli Defence Force are clearly responsible for appalling war crimes, including the deliberate starving of a population, yet these crimes recognised by the ICJ and the UN could only happen with the economic and political backing of the West,” stated Solidarity with Palestine Pembrokeshire.

“In Pembrokeshire, we have identified where some of that money has come from. The Dyfed Pension Fund, which is paid into by employees of Pembrokeshire County Council, has invested over £64 million in Israel.

“We also note that Pembrokeshire County Council hosts the Israel supporting Barclays Bank at County Hall. But when it comes to political support for the Israeli war criminals, MP Stephen Crabb is high up on the list.

“As residents of Pembrokeshire who really do believe in tolerance, democracy and freedom, we are ashamed to have had Stephen Crabb as our MP,” they added.
