A number of firefighters from across the Mid and West Wales fire region have been celebrating their Ironman Wales successes.

They met in Tenby last week at an event organised by the deputy chair of the fire authority, County Clr. Wynne Evans, to share their experiences on the gruelling course and the times they achieved.

Clr. Evans, in his speech, thanked them all and said how much respect he had for all the competitors of the wonderful Ironman event.

He also expressed his thanks to the Mayor of Tenby, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, who was in attenance.

Clr. Evans said Tenby, as always, fully embraced the event and hosted a memorable weekend, as did other communities on the route.

He also thanked Tenby Fire Station manager Jeremy Lees and his crew for playing such an important part in the community, not just on Ironman day, but in all events held in Tenby.

Added Clr. Evans: "It is impossible to express in words how proud I was to give out the medals on the finishing line, along with Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane. Every competitor was so positive about coming back to compete again next year."
