Visitors will be encouraged to run, swim and get muddy on Sunday, June 12, as the National Trust’s Stackpole Estate hosts the Barafundle Bay Trailathlon in partnership with Pembroke Leisure Centre.
The inaugural event, run by the Trust as part of the charity’s ‘Let the outdoors move you’ campaign, will see participants of all ages and abilities take on a series of trails whilst enjoying the Pembrokeshire landscape.
Starting from Stackpole Quay, the Trailathlon will include a run across coast and countryside terrain (three or five miles for adults and 1.5 miles for children), a woodland obstacle course offering a muddy challenge and a sea swim (or splash) covering the breadth of beautiful Barafundle Bay.
The route will conclude with a final run across the headland back to Stackpole Quay to enjoy a barbecue at the Boathouse Tearoom and a well-earned goody bag, sponsored by Capital Roasters.
As the final countdown to the adrenaline-fuelled day begins, visitors are advised to sign up soon to avoid disappointment, with booking closing on Thursday, June 9. Entry is £15 per adult, £10 per child and £40 for a family of four and can be booked via 01646 661359.
Registration will take place at 9.30 am on the day at Stackpole Quay car park (a £2 parking charge applies for non-members), with the event starting at 10 am and due to finish by 12.30 pm.
Other sporting activities on offer at Stackpole include beach circuits, a regular fun run, buggy fit and Nordic walking.
