Saundersfoot’s Regency Hall was packed to see the local Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Brownies present their own particular version of the Gang Show, the ‘Whizz-Bang Show.’ The cast was well over 100 and the show was devised and directed by the Assistant Scoutmaster Don Johns.
A packed school hall in Narberth voted unanimously in favour of abolishing the 11-plus examination. There was only one vote against comprehensive education.
Jeffreyston Youth Club weight-lifting team was successful in the County Youth Eisteddford held at Bush Grammar School, Pembroke Dock. For the previous two seasons, they had been trained under the supervision of Mr. Jim Codd, of Cross Inn, featherweight champion of Wales for the previous three years. The team members were Roy Logan, Leslie Davies, Gerald Beynon, Allan Newman, Kelvin Rossiter, Gwyn Beynon.
A branch of the National Hairdressers Federation was formed in Pembrokeshire. Among officers appointed at the inaugural meeting held at the Belgrave Hotel, Tenby, was chairman Mr. Keith Taylor-Sharp, Keith Continental Hair Stylist, St. Julian Street, Tenby.
Tenby’s new harbourmaster was captain R. E. P. Morgan, Master Mariner.
Glyndwr were winners of the house cup with 202 points at the St. David’s Day eisteddford held at Tenby’s Greenhill County Secondary School. Robert Recorde were runners-up.
Templeton Play Field Committee’s annual ball was held at the Queen’s Hall.
Rugby: Whitland 0 Tenby 0. If Tenby were to retain the Pembrokeshire rugby championship - and they were regarded as strong favourities - Whitland would have the satisfaction of knowing they took three points off them in their two clashes.
Mrs. Jane Hughes, of Tenby Hockey Club, scored on of Wales’ three goals in their 3-1 victory over Ireland in the women’s international in Belfast.
