Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Lions are out and about this Christmas period holding their festive fundraising activities for worthy causes - and they’ll have a special guest along for the ride!

Lions volunteers will once again be hosting Santa and his Toy's Shed again this year at various venues around the locality.

“In the past, we travelled the streets of Pembroke and the surrounding area with a sleigh. However, due to our increasing age profile, this is no longer physically possible, so for the last three years, we have had a static display at a number of local venues,” explained Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Lions secretary Tony Wilson.

“There used to be Lions clubs in Milford Haven and Haverfordwest but they both closed a few years ago due to no longer having enough members.

“Since their demise, the Pembroke and Pembroke Dock Lions have supported a number of charities in those areas such as Sandy Bear, and Adam's Bucketful of Hope.

“Last year, we expanded our Christmas fundraising horizons and spent two days at Morrisons in Haverfordwest, who immediately asked us to return this year.”

This year, in addition to Morrisons on December 14 and 15, Lions volunteers will also be at Tesco in Milford Haven on Friday, December 13; and as per normal, they will finish up by being at Tesco in Pembroke Dock on Monday, December 23 and 24.

All of the fundraising days will be from 10 am until 4 pm - weather permitting.

The Lions have also given a big thank you to Mia, Tia, Amy and Chole for raising funds for the cause who have been out and about since the start of December selling ‘reindeer food’ ready for little ones to feed Santa's when they arrive on Christmas Eve!
