As we were going to press yesterday (Thursday), fears were growing for the safety of a young man who disappeared while on a golfing trip to Tenby. Twenty-five-year-old Mr. James William Nutley from the Caldicot area of Monmouth disappeared on Sunday after a night out in the town. Mr. Nutley had arrived in Tenby sometime between 5 and 5.30 pm as part of a golfing group which visits the town on an annual basis. Along with friends, he then visited local pubs, including the Lifeboat Tavern in Tudor Square, the Three Mariners in St. George Street, and the Prince of Wales in Upper Frog Street. He was last seen when he left the Prince of Wales at approximately midnight. The alarm was raised on Monday after Mr. Nutley failed to return to his hotel room, but by yesterday extensive coastal searches involving HM Coastguard and Dyfed Powys Police air support, dog handlers and the force's boat, had found no trace of him. On Wednesday, police confirmed that property, including a driving licence, belonging to Mr. Nutley had been found on the South Beach directly below the Clarence Hotel. Mr. Nutley is described as six-foot two inches tall, slim build, with mousy brown hair. He was last seen wearing a white fleece type top with blue sleeves and a zip to its front, blue denim jeans and trainers. Inspector Les Clark, of the town's police station, said: "I am gravely concerned for this young man. He came to the area with friends for a golfing break and has failed to return to his hotel room or make contact with his friends. I would appeal to anyone who may know him and is aware of his current whereabouts to get in contact with the police." Police are also asking anyone who was at the pubs Mr. Nutley visited or who has had any contact with or any sightings of him in the Tenby area, particularly in the South Beach area of the town, since his arrival on Sunday, to contact either Tenby police station on (01834) 842303 or Pembroke Dock police station on (01646) 682121.
