FBM Holidays, the Tenby-based local holiday home agency has been honoured with the accolade for ‘Tourism and Leisure Business of the Year’ at the West Wales Business Awards, held last Friday night in Llanelli’s Stradey Park Hotel.

FBM Holidays were announced as winners during the black tie event held to mark businesses in various categories and that promotes and covers the region of West Wales, taking in Carmarthen, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion.

The holiday cottage agency, which was established as part of the FBM Group, has been letting holiday accommodation in the West Wales region as far back as the end of the 20th Century (1899), and were recognised not only for an exceptional year of business in 2018 but also their commitment to promoting the wider region of West Wales as part of their business exploits.

Marketing Executive for FBM Holidays, Laura Mackenzie said of the awards: “We are delighted to have won this award for our contribution to tourism in West Wales, and we look forward to showcasing even more of what this beautiful part of Wales has to offer in 2019 and beyond.”

FBM Holidays were up against stiff competition in the Tourism and Leisure category, but eventually walked away with the top accolade for tourism and leisure services in the region, given the fantastic year of growth and levels of bipartisan promotion the firm has given to West Wales during a mesmeric 2018.

The holiday letting agency brought on a record number of holiday properties to the business in 2018, adding to their growing portfolio of cottages, seaside apartments, townhouses and rural lodges across all three former Dyfed counties.

A large aspect of the awards is not only how the business has developed, but also how the business is helping to promote the wider region as a whole.

Last year, the team from FBM Holidays spent a lot of time with large industry leading business representatives from companies like HomeAway and Airbnb, discussing how they could help promote the West Wales region.

It is hoped that these wider discussions and a better understanding of the area, amenities and services that surround tourist destinations will have a positive impact on the local economies and drive more people to visit the area in general, where there is so much to offer.

As for FBM Holidays, 2019 couldn’t have started off any better, as they look to continue the rise seen in bookings and holiday homes letting with the agency.
